INTRODUCTION

Basic training of physicians assigns an important role to the study of biological chemistry. Biochemistry is a science that studies chemical compounds and metabolism in the body. Knowledge of chemical processes taking place in a healthy person is a prerequisite for understanding the physiological substrate of pathological processes and the way they can be corrected with pharmacological agents.

Practical training is an important aspect of biological chemistry study. Independent work of a student in the biochemical laboratory promotes his forming an idea about research techniques used in biochemistry: developing an algorithm of interpreting laboratory test findings, evaluating the clinical and diagnostic value of biochemical parameters.

The objective of this guide is to help students in the study of practical aspects of biochemistry.

In the process of performing lab works the following competencies are formed: General Cultural Competence 1, General Professional Competences 1, 7, 9; Professional Competences 5, 21.
